Cannabis sativa is a putative species of the cannabis genus. It is often differentiated from it’s cousin, cannabis-indica. Throughout recorded history, human beings have cultivated the annual plant for manufacturing, food, recreation and religious/spiritual enlightenment. In addition, it has been used for medicinal purposes. Cannabis sativa landraces tend to have higher thc and lower cbd content than other members of its genus.
