After sluggish start, cannabis sales gain foothold in Northwest Territories

Cannabis sales in the Northwest Territories rose by almost 60 per cent since 2019-20, according to an annual report from the Northwest Territories Liquor and Cannabis Commission (NTLCC). Cannabis oil made up six per cent of sales, with extracts, edibles, beverages and seeds rounding out the remaining sales. Just three per cent of all cannabis sales were conducted on the online store, with the remaining purchases coming from liquor stores also licensed to sell cannabis. Cannabis is now sold at four liquor stores, as well as from two private retailers in Yellowknife, ReLeaf NT and Trailblazers Cannabis Shop. According to the latest annual report, combined sales for liquor and cannabis products provided a total $28 million dividend payment to the Government of the Northwest Territories.
