Almost a week earlier, officers also seized about 20 kilograms of cannabis valued at $536,000 on May 19 in the West Dublin area. Using an X-ray scanner, Revenue officers found the drugs concealed within a consignment of vegetables.

An intelligence-led operation in Ireland paid off late last week when a man and a woman were detained after police found five kilograms worth of weed in Athy.

A team consisting of members of Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau and the Kildare Divisional Drugs Unit executed a search warrant on the premises in Athy on June 3, notes a Revenue press release. The search was part of an initiative targeting organized crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs around Kildare.
