The university had opted for a total smoking ban after recreational weed was legalized almost two years ago, but decided it needed to get educated and do some consulting before coming to any final policy. But if anyone needs weed, they’ll have to buy it from somewhere off-campus. “No person shall cultivate, propagate or harvest, or offer to cultivate, propagate or harvest cannabis on Algoma University property,” the policy states. As such, the Cannabis Use Policy “promotes self-responsibility and self-accountability with respect to the use of cannabis.” Outdoor designated smoking areas will be permitted on campus on a temporary basis, the policy notes.
