The Rio Grande River is a popular area for smugglers. The day before, agents again responded to suspected smuggling activity near the Rio Grande in Brownsville. When agents responded to the location, they observed five individuals wading across the Rio Grande back into Mexico. Customs officials responded to the scene and seized approximately 46 pounds (22 kilograms) of cannabis. According to a news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the driver came across two bundles of cannabis, one of which was torn apart by the tractor.
